CONTEXT 

This concept began as an exercise in creating a “BioPunk” concept art style blending my experience in industrial design and my passion for biodesign. The approach was quite unconventional for concept art because of the emphasis on grounding the concept in the science.

This vision of the future tech in the world of Frank Herbert’s Dune that is firmly grounded in biodesign and Herbert’s work is in part a dedication to environmentalism. The Fremen have learned to be in symbiosis with their harsh environment and in this interpretation of the stillsuit they develop a biotechnology to create what is essentially a living suit, a biohybrid system enabling them to comfortably move about the desert, reclaim and preserve any drop of water.
