Safety 1st Toilet Lock

Design Brief: To redesign the Safety 1st toilet lock by reimagining the product to be more intuitive and user-friendly. The design brief demanded that it is not installed with adhesive which often left residue when no longer useful and that it is not installed in the “line of fire”.

Design Role: My first project at Safety 1st, and a rare opportunity to define a new design language as a junior designer. I led the product from ideation to production, introducing a design mounted on the water tank with mechanical suction cups and a spring-loaded mechanism. The lock could be operated with one hand and automatically re-engaged after use.
